Airplanes B.o.B feat. Hayley Williams
McFly are back with their fourth studio album and their first on their own independent label, Super Records.
Nine of the tracks on Radio:ACTIVE were previously released free with a Sunday newspaper back in July and are joined here by four brand new songs including their current single, Lies.
Their latest hit, which kicks off the set, feels like a breath of fresh air from a band who seemed to lose their way with their previous studio album, Motion In The Ocean. Lyrically it recalls their sophomore effort, with the boys singing 'and I'm just one drink away and I'm back in Wonderland like it was yesterday'.
The highlight of the album undoubtedly comes from POV, a song which has a much harder rock edge than anything we've heard from the band previously - but fans shouldn't worry, they haven't gone all Metallica on us!
The physical release of the album also features a two hour bonus DVD which gives an insightful look into the making and promoting of the album. We get to see McFly as we've never seen them before - debating the direction of the Lies video following their disappointment with the promo for previous single, One For The Radio, playing pranks on each other to pass the time while on the road and talking about their evolution of their sound on this album.
Watching the DVD you get the sense that they're just four friends having the time of their lives, touring the world and making the music that they want to make. It's definitely McFly at their very best and we're glad to have them back.
