Matt Cardle wants to be a star

X Factor winner Matt Cardle has reportedly turned to Robbie Williams mentor Chris Briggs to ensure his career is a success.

In a bid to break the tradition of short lived careers from male winners of the hit reality show, Judge Simon Cowell has encouraged Cardle to collaborate with Briggs to help him become a star.

Briggs was influential in bringing together Robbie with songwriter Guy Chambers, with whom the singer wrote some of his biggest hits.

"It was a big-money deal but Chris is commonly regarded as one of the most gifted individuals in the music business,” a source told The Sun.

Cardle topped the Big Top 40 at the end of last year with 'When We Collide', a cover of Biffy Clyro's 'Many Of Horror'.
