The 'Part Of Me' star says she isn't embarrassed by having to wear spanx when she attends press events.

Katy Perry says her love of spanx makes her more relatable to fans because she is "ok" with herself and her body.

The 'Teenage Dream' singer says she doesn't feel the need to work out all the time and never feels embarrassed to wear the oversized underwear garment, which gives the body a more svelte form.

"Um, I don't care because I'm ok with myself," Katy Perry told OK! Magazine, about her love of the body forming undergarment. "I think every woman does stuff like that anyways, all the time.

"I think one of my favourite moments is seeing like a hot girl dancing in a club and then accidentally seeing her Spanx," Katy recalled. "People don't want to look up - they want to look across at someone.

"They want to feel like, 'Hey that's my girl. I relate to your song," Katy added, admitting that her honesty about things like that is what makes her relate so well to her fans.

The 'Part Of Me' star was speaking fresh from picking up her award for Billboard Woman Of The Year last week.

Katy Perry is currently writing music for her third studio album but has vowed not to rush work on the follow-up to 'Teenage Dream'.
