Katy Perry promises big things from album 'Teenage Dream'

Katy Perry is a busy lady right now. Not only is she celebrating a No.1 on the Big Top 40 with California Gurls, planning a wedding to Russell Brand (that is if theyre not already married?) and featuring on the X Factor as a guest judge, but she also has a new album to shout about.

Teenage Dreams, Katy's follow-up to 2008's amazingly-successful One Of The Boys, is released August 29th, and she was only too happy to tell Kevin Hughes what fans can expect.

Its a real evolvement of One of the Boys" she revealed. "I call it dancing with purpose, because when I was on tour I noticed that what I was lacking was more movement from people. And you know when you go to a show and youre forced to jump because its so jam-packed and sweaty and youre locked in between two people, so you have to move when they move. I just love that feeling of losing yourself in the music. So I wanted to put more movement around my stories, but I didnt want my stories to be sacrificed. Most albums full of club hits are just dancing at the club, out at the club, blah blah blah. There are other things in life to deal with like relationships, friendships, stress, pressure, BS and sadness so I like a soundtrack for every emotion. I feel like all my bases are covered on this album.

The candy-scented album features future single Firework an amazing anthemic track that will get everyone dancing, as well one track called E.T!, and also the current hit record Teenage Dream.  Katy went on to say, "Firework is almost my opus but it is something I am so proud of. I feel like a fizzing, buzzing person, like a firework. I think we all have the potential to ignite a spark in each other.

Teenage Dreams is the latest in a series of important events for Katy in 2010; we'll also be seeing her on our TV screens over the coming weeks during her brief stint as an X Factor judge, filling in for Dannii whilst she was on maternity leave.

On the upcoming show, Katy will sit alongside Simon, Louis and Cheryl, passing judgement on all the wannabes. She told us how excited she was about appearing on the show.

I love sitting next to Simon. Hes a very smart man and a big flirt and Ive always wanted to be a part of X Factor. I just hope I can give constructive criticism because I obviously cant dance as I got 17 stitches doing a twirl into a glass table, so Im not going to waste 15 years of my life pretending Im Janet Jackson. So people need to know that theyre not Celine Dion and youve got to help them, but its a hard truth

Katy also revealed how excited she was about finally meet Cheryl Cole. Ive never met her but I want to meet those dimples. Shes so cute.

Katy also chatted to us about fiance Russell, that leg injury, Summer plans and even reveals shes allowed to have secret crushes on guys. Oooh, juicy!
