The 'California Gurls' singer is still keen to begin her film career and wants to be taken seriously as an actress.

Katy Perry is reportedly "confident" about launching her film career and is said to have been discussing potentially film roles with renowned Hollywood movie producer Harvey Weinstein.

The 'Teenage Dream' singer has previously admitted she is keen to branch out in to the film industry following her supporting voice role in 2011's animated summer flick The Smurfs.

"Katy's talking to top Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein about how to move into acting as she is desperate to be taken seriously," a source told the Daily Star this week.

"She realises people may doubt her abilities but is confident she can change people's minds," they added.

Katy Perry will be one of the special guest performers for the Let's Dance For Sport Relief final this weekend (17th March) where she is expected to perform her new single 'Part Of Me'.
