The 'As Long As You Love Me' singer won three awards in total and hit out at his recent bad press during his speech.

Justin Bieber gave an emotional speech while picking up one of his gongs at the Billboard Music Awards 2013 last night (19th May) after being faced with boos from the arena audience.

The 'Boyfriend' star made his way on stage in Las Vegas to pick up the new Milestone Award, and stood silently for half a minute while listening to the loud cheers, and audible boos, that greeted him.

When he finally began his acceptance speech Justin hit out at the recent slew of negative press he has received in the tabloid press over the past few months, and urged people to take him seriously as a recording artists.

"I'm 19 years old. I think I'm doing a pretty good job," Justin said to start his speech, after hearing boos from the crowd. "It should really be about the music.

"This is not a gimmick, I'm not a gimmick," he continued. "I'm an artist and I should be taken seriously.

"And all this other bull should not be spoken of,' Justin added, before going on to thank his manager Scooter Braun and his family.
