Jessie J was born on 27th March 1988 and was named Jessica Ellen Cornish. Jessie has told interviewers that the 'J' stands for 'Jazzhands' (a reference to her BRIT School days) and 'Jetlag' (from being a frequent flier).
Jessie's second single, 'Price Tag' has been her biggest selling song, and reached No.1 in the UK and the top ten in 19 countries. It was also one of the most watched music videos of all time (having reached 148 million total views by October 2011). Her first single, 'Do It Like a Dude", reached No.2.
As well as co-penning hit singles 'Price Tag' and 'Who You Are', Jessie J has written songs for other artists including Chris Brown, Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera and Miley Cyrus. Jessie J is openly bisexual. In 2011 she addressed rumours about her sexuality, telling Glamour magazine: "It's important to me to be open and honest about [my bisexuality]. My Mum and Dad have known for years and were super cool, my sisters made jokes about it because they were married with kids and I was the rebellious one. I had a girlfriend and tattoos. Because I haven't tried to hide it, people have gone, 'Oh, she's so cool about it, so we're cool about it'."
