The 'Domino' star has backed 'I Wanna Go' singer Britney Spears as a new juge on the US talent show.

Jessie J says The X Factor US would benefit from having a judge like Britney Spears who has proved her career has longevity.

The 'LaserLight' singer, who currently serves as a vocal coach on The Voice UK, says the most important attribute a judge needs is to be able to understand what contestants on the show are going through.

"I think it's really important to have people who have lived it," Jessie told E! Online this week. "They can understand what there artists who are auditioning go through and really know how it feels to have rejection and have success."

Jessie has given her backing to Britney Spears for one of the coveted The X Factor US judging spots, amid reports the 'Criminal' singer is close to signing a $15 million deal to join the show.

"I think that she's someone who's shown to have a career with longevity," Jessie explained. "I think it's definitely something that the show [needs]."

Former The X Factor US judge Nicole Scherzinger, who left the show alongside Paula Abdul after the first season, has also given her backing to Britney Spears.

Jessie J confirmed earlier today (13th April) that she has now started work on her second studio album.
