BRIT Awards 2012 Offer Fans Chance To Vote By iPhone App For First Time

Fans offered the opportunity to pick the winners at the industry event by mobile phone.

The BRIT Awards are set to release a new iPhone app which will allow fans to vote for their favourite stars on their mobile phones.

It was announced today (6th January) that the digital development company Noise Inc. will be devising the app which will be avialble to download for free from 12th January.

BRIT Event Director Maggie Crowe explained: "We want to keep in touch with our fans through their iPhones, with apps, and Noise Inc. has helped us make it possible for them to connect directly with The BRITs to vote and keep up to date with all our latest news."

The download will time in perfectly with when the nominations are announced on the same day as the app goes live.

Emeli Sande is the only artist already confirmed to have received a nod at the event after she received the Critics' Choice Award last month.

Nominees for British single will be selected by the listeners of Capital FM and from users of iTunes.

The BRIT Awards 2012 take place at the O2 Arena in London on 21st February.
