The 'A Team' singer-songwriter sent a message to the US star after she sold 1.2 million copies of her new record.

Ed Sheeran has congratulated Taylor Swift on the huge sales success of her new album 'Red', after describing her sales milestone as "awesome".

The 'Lego House' star teamed up with Taylor to record her album track 'Everything Has Changed', which leaked online a week before the record's release, and sent the US star a message congratulating her after she sold over one million copies of 'Red' in just one week.

Taylor Swift achieved the best weekly debut sales with 'Red' since Eminem's 'The Eminem Show' back in 2002, scoring her third consecutive number one on the US Billboard Top 200 album chart in the process.

Ed paid tribute to his work with Taylor on 'Red' last weekend by having the album's title tattooed onto his left arm during his visit to Birmingham as part of his UK tour.

"Congrats to @taylorswift for selling 1.2 million albums in one week, orrrrsssuuummm," Ed tweeted earlier today (31st October).
