The track is taken from his forthcoming album 'X' and fans have been busy speculating who it's about.

Ed Sheeran performed his new song 'Don't' for the first time on Saturday Night Live this weekend.

There has been much talk surrounding the track after the British star admitted it was "100%" based on a real-life experience he had of dating a musician.

"If you date a songwriter, be prepared to have songs written about you," he told Billboard earlier this year about the song.

Many fans and media outlets have speculated the track is based on an apparent relationship with Ellie Goulding – something which neither star has commented on.

Ed did recently explain to Rolling Stone that it was not about Taylor Swift however insisting the pair have never been romantically involved.

Ed also performed his new single 'Sing' on the show – which was hosted by Seth Rogen.

'Sing' will be released on 1st June  with new album 'X' following on 23rd.
