Ed Sheeran "Blown Away" By BRIT Awards 2012 Nominations

The 'A Team' singer-songwriter says it would "mean the world" for him to win an award at the BRITs ceremony.

Ed Sheeran says he is "blown away' after receiving four BRIT Awards nominations ahead of the annual awards ceremony next month.

The 'Lego House' singer performed at the BRITs nomination party in London earlier today (12th January) where it was also announced he is in contention for British Breakthrough, Best Male, Best Album and Best Song for 'The A Team'.

"Oh my. I've been nominated for 4 Brit awards," Ed tweeted tonight. "I'm a bit blown away, thank you for all your support!! : ) waaaaah!

"Please vote for me in the breakthrough and song categories, it would mean the world to win them," Ed later posted. "Thank you all so much for the love xx."

He added: "I signed to Asylum a year ago today, just remembered. Nuts x."

Voting for all of the categories at this year's BRIT Awards has now opened, including the British Single award, which is voted for by listeners of Capital FM.

Each listener who casts a vote for British Single will be entered into a competition to win a pair of tickets to this year's ceremony.
