The 'Parachute' singer says relaxing with American television shows helps her forget about the stresses of her personal life.

Cheryl Cole says she prefers to stay in and watch TV instead of having late nights out on the town.

The '3 Words' singer admits her favourite way of relaxing is to change into comfy clothes and enjoy "trashy" American television shows or UK soaps.

"I prefer to sit down and watch Coronation Street or EastEnders," Cheryl revealed to OK! Magazine. "That can take me away from the drama of my own life.

"When I get in at night I have a shower, put my pyjamas on and watch soaps and trashy American shows."

The 'Parachute' singer was recently rumoured to be recording a collaboration with 'We Found Love' singer Rihanna.

Cheryl flew to Los Angeles last week to meet with her producer Alex Da Kidd ready to finish off work on her third studio album.
