The 'Call Me Maybe' star has been hyped for a win by her 'Good Time' collaborator Adam Young.

Owl City has tipped his 'Good Time' collaborator Carly Rae Jepsen for a win at the MTV Video Music Awards 2012 next weekend saying she is "genuine" and deserves the award.

The US singer-songwriter teamed up with Carly for 'Good Time' recently, and has praised Carly following her huge success around the world with breakthrough single 'Call Me Maybe', suggesting she is in with a good shot at winning Best New Artist at the annual MTV awards show.

"[Her chances are] pretty good," Owl City's Adam Young told MTV News this week. "They're all good, but I'm rooting for her.

When asked why 26 year-old Carly deserves to win the coveted award over the likes of One Direction, The Wanted and Frank Ocean, Adam says Carly made such a huge impact with the song she deserves it.

"It's sincerity. She's genuine, I don't know what it is," he explain. "The song is really catchy, but she is really amazing. She fits that song.

"Who else could sing the song? It's her song. It's her, in music form.

The 'Fireflies' singer went on to say that after meeting Carly for the first time during their video shoot for joint single 'Good Time' he felt like he had known her a long time straight away and added that she is just "fun to be around".
