Capital caught up with Alexandra Burke ahead of this year's launch of The X Factor and the 'Bad Boys' singer says her new single is ready to go.

"I just picked my next single off of the second album last week," Alexandra confessed.

"It's very, very, very exciting. I can't wait. It's gonna be out late October."

Despite not revealing the name for her new single, Alex gave a big hint to the subject of the song.

"You'll all be surprised to know that the song is about an animal and that's all I'm saying," Alexandra told Capital's showbiz reporter Kevin Hughes.

"There's an animal involved. It's edgier, it's sexier, it's different.

"But still me, still fun, still the personality of Perky Burkey."
