From secret weddings to James Bond themed getaway and from never being able to sing again to teaming up with Kermit The Frog, Adele has had her fair share of crazy rumours over the years. Capital counts down some of the most 'out there' rumours about the 'Rolling In The Deep' star...
'21' singer Adele announced her pregnancy at the start of summer 2012, wanting her fans to hear the news first. Despite the announcement, Adele didn't reveal when her due date was and, in late October, the 'Rolling In The Deep' star was rumoured to have given birth to a baby boy. Despite widespread media reports, Adele has yet to make an official announcement on whether she has become a mother yet.
Fresh from sweeping up at both the Grammy Awards and BRIT Awards in early 2012, reports soon emerged that Adele wasn't planning to release a new album for "at least three years".
It was rumoured for up to a year before the official confirmation that Adele had been tasked to write and record the theme for Sam Mendes' new Bond film starring Daniel Craig. Tom Jones said she would be perfect for it, and Adele herself even hinted at the project during a chat show appearance at the start of 2012, but it wasn't until autumn this year when it was finally confirmed Adele was the voice behind the soon-to-be-iconic Skyfall theme song.
Just days after it was announced that Adele had indeed written and recorded the theme song to new James Bond film Skyfall, it was reported by The Sun that she was planning a James Bond themed getaway to writer Ian Fleming's Goldeneye estate in Jamaica after her research on the spy franchise.
Rumours emerged in late September that Adele was recording the new James Bond theme, and before long it was claimed online that a HMV store in Guildford had accidentally played the Adele song in their shop. A spokesperson for the company quickly claimed the store's staff were adamant it had not been played, despite claims by some customers that they had definitely heard the track. The jury is out on this one!
In one of the more feasible rumours on this list, it was claimed in September by the Daily Mail that Adele has been spending time with Burberry CEO Christopher Bailey while planning to develop a collection together. While no official announcement is made, the 'Someone Like You' singer could bring "bespoke designs" of her own unique style to the fashion giant before long.
Just months after Adele confirmed she and boyfriend Simon Konecki were expecting their first child together, it was claimed the two had run off to secretly get married in August this year. After a huge buzz across the internet about the rumours, Adele herself took to Twitter to deny the claims, hinting that she was sick of rumours about her personal life by simply posting: "I'm not married… Zzzzzzzz." Fresh from announcing her pregnancy at the start of summer 2012, a huge new wave of rumours about Adele's personal life began doing the rounds including claims that she plans to build a state of the art £35k nursery for her unborn baby. The claims in Reveal magazine suggested Adele was even planning to include bespoke wallpaper, climate control and a professional sound system.
Another rumour that quickly emerged after Adele's announcement claimed she is planning to record a complete album of nursery rhymes. The Sun said 'Rolling In The Deep' star Adele had been playing rhymes into her baby bump and wanting to make a whole album of the songs for her soon to be newborn.
As a mother to be it could be easily assumed Adele might be having a few nerves about becoming a parent, but one tabloid report suggested she has become obsessed with the TV series Supernanny in recent months and has been watching re-runs of the US and UK editions of the show, which stars professional nanny Jo Frost, in order to brush up on the dos and don'ts of parenting.
Back in July claims emerged in The Sun that Adele was planning to spend half a million pounds on renovating her mansion in Sussex after finally getting planning permission for all her improvements, including a new balcony and a nursery for her first child.
Back in July reports surfaced that Adele had been hired to perform a duet with The X factor's Leona Lewis at the London 2012 Olympic Games opening ceremony. Despite fans being excited by the potential of the two big-voiced pop stars on the same stage, Leona quickly put the rumours to rest by confirming that although she would "love to", neither her nor Adele were expected to be at the event. Shame!
Fresh from the success of the new Muppets Hollywood movie in summer 2012, Kermit the Frog told OK magazine he would love to do a duet with Adele one day in the future, although Miss Piggy wasn't so keen on the potential team-up. Adele has also yet to comment on rumours of a collaboration between herself and the Frog.
In one of the most outrageous rumours about Adele, back in March this year it was claimed she had hired special security for her mansion to protect her from ghosts. The 'Someone Like You' star is said to have heard things in her $7 million mansion and hired staff to man the gates after looking into the building's religious history.
The 'Someone Like You' star was reported by The Sun to be hoping to spend money on implementing solar panels onto her house in an effort to become more eco-friendly and power her own recording studio for working on the follow-up to '21'.
Despite panicked rumours across the Internet that Adele's singing career was over in late 2011 due to throat problems, it was later confirmed that successful later microsurgery on her throat had fixed a vocal cord hemorrhage and she would be back able to sing after a recovery period. In July there were reports that one of Adele's pregnancy cravings was an urge to take line-dancing lessons. The Sun claimed 'Rolling In The Deep' signer Adele had fallen in love with country music and started attending line-dancing lessons in recent weeks. The star has yet to show off any of her new-found dance moves.
In April 2012 it was widely rumoured that Adele had been asked (and agreed) to perform at the wedding of Mumford & Sons frontman Marcus Mumford and Hollywood actress Carey Mulligan! There has been no confirmation about whether Adele did actually take to the stage for the happy event, but she is said to be a huge fan of the band so it wouldn't have been out of the question!
Back in autumn 2011 when it emerged that Adele was suffering from voice problems and would require surgery, rumours suddenly started spreading that she was actually suffering from cancer of the throat. After the Twitter hashtag #PrayForAdele began trending, Adele's label XL Recordings quickly put out an announcement that she was actually suffering from a hemorrhaged vocal chord and that all other rumours of illnesses are "100% false".
Back in December 2011 a rider from Adele's cancelled US tour was seemingly leaked online and suggested the UK singer demands cigarettes, bottles of clear honey, red wine and vitamin tablets and individually wrapped sandwiches (without tomatoes, citrus fruits or vinegar). It also said she wanted complimentary gig guests to contribute to the charity Sands.
Tinie and Adele are self-confessed fast friends and rumours have constantly been bandied around that the two UK stars are planning to record with each other. At the start of 2012 Tinie reiterated how enthusiastic he is to get into the recording studio with the 'Set Fire To The Rain' star, but despite continuous rumours the two have yet to lay down a track together.
