On the 24th January 2011, Adele released her second studio album '21'. The follow up to her debut '19' has since gone on to become one of the greatest selling records of all time and produced the hit singles 'Rolling In The Deep', 'Someone Like You' and 'Set Fire To The Rain'.
Adele made one of the stand out performances of the year at the BRIT Awards 2011 at London's O2 Arena in February with her powerful and emotional rendition of her hit 'Someone Like You'.
Adele achieved a huge feat with her album '21' after it notched up a 16th week atop the American Billboard chart which equalled the record set by the soundtrack to the 1998 Blockbuster Titanic.

Much like her debut record '19' Adele's second studio album '21' was influenced by her past experiences and how she was feeling at the time of writing. A broken relationship was highlighted as the main source of inspiration for the singer as she penned her heartbreak into honest and emotional lyrics.
The first track taken from the album '21' was 'Rolling In The Deep' which has picked up a plethora of awards in the past twelve months including the award for MTV's Song Of The Year.
Adele performed live on The Graham Norton Show in May where she performed a live rendition of 'Set Fire To The Rain'. The singer announced that she still suffers from stage fright during a chat with the comedian.
In December, Adele posted her first ever message on social networking site Twitter. The singer had relied on her management company to update her feed until recently and the star posted her first picture which showed the star posing with a picture of Beyonce.

Adele made an apperance on the front cover of the October edition of fashion magazine Vogue in the UK. In December, the singer was also rumoured to be making an apperance on the US version in March 2012.

Adele performed a live rendition of her hit single 'Rolling In The Deep' on NBC's The Today Show in America. The star was interviewed before her rendition where she spoke about the pressures of following up her successful debut album.
Adele was a guest on Jonathan Ross' brand new chat show where she confessed that fans at her live shows can get "hysterical". The star joined Sarah Jessica Parker and Formula One star Lewis Hamilton on the debut episode of the show.

Following the release of her album '21', the singer responded to reports that she was unhappy. She said in an interview with MTV: "I'm no more depressed than any other 21 or 22 year-old girl when someone leaves them, you know."
Adele released 'Someone Like You' as the second single from her sophmore album. The track is about the singer coming to terms with a broken relationship. The single was accompanied by a video which was taken from her impressive live performance at the BRITs 2011.
Adele Won a total of three awards at the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles for her single 'Rolling In The Deep'. The video came out top in the Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography and Best Editing categories.

At the BRIT Awards 2012 launch in January, the singer recieved a total of three nominations including Best Album, Best British Single and British Female Solo Artist.
Adele received a total of six nominations at the Grammy Awards 2012 including Album Of The Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for her record '21'.
