Adele "So Happy" For Team GB After Rowing Gold Medal At London 2012 Olympics

Helen Glover and Heather Stanning became the first British female rowers to win a gold medal with women's pair win.

Adele has congratulated rowers Helen Glover and Heather Stanning after they won Team GB's first gold medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Helen and Heather crossed the line in a time of 7:27.13 to win the women's pair event at Eton Dorney.

Their win also makes them the first British female rowers to win an Olympic title.

Adele, who is currently pregnant with her first child, was the first music star to take to Twitter to congratulate the rowers after their win on the water this morning (1st August).

She wrote: "Go on girls! Congrats Helen and Heather, sooo happy for you! Our 1st gold medalists :)."

Helen and Heather's win elevates Great Britain to 13th in the medal's table, with one gold, two silvers and two bronze medals with the second week of competition still to come.



Meanwhile, Cheryl Cole has been tweeting British diver Tom Daley, who is set to go for gold at the Aquatics Centre next week.

The Girls Aloud singer joked swan-diving during a discussion with the 18-year-old medal hopeful.
